The workers said that the factory is a Chinese owned factory which is operating with more than 100 workers and manufacturing CUH brand shirts and laces. There are more than 30 workers in a cavity and the demanded outputs are more than 100 fabric piece per hour.

“Those fabrics are difficult to sew. They are asking more than 100 per hour which we have to work without taking a break to finish because the supers and all supers verbally abuse us if we can’t,” said the workers.

The workers said that day laborers and child laborers have causalities as they are hired without being appointed as a permanent and hired only if there are tasks to do and fired if there are no more.

“We are not entitled to legal leaves such as casual and seniority leaves. We are cut for 5,800 kyats daily wages and 20,000 kyats attendance bonus for taking a leave. We are not also entitled to social security although we pay for it. Although the social security pay, the factory does not and we lost our daily wages and attendance bonus,” said the worker.

The workers said that they want to request to give legal benefits in the workplace, to ask only the possible amount of fabric output and to appoint the workers with more than 3 months of service as permanent stuffs.
