workers have begun demanding an increase in wages and other rights, with a total of nine points raised in their petition at Dishang Fashion (Myanmar) garment factory. The demands began this afternoon, and workers said they have stopped work and are staging their demands at the workplace.

The workers are calling for the daily wage to be raised to 15,000 kyats, the attendance bonus to be increased to 20,000 kyats, and a 1,000-kyat increment per grade level. They also demand fixed production targets, provision of legal leave entitlements, an end to discriminatory treatment by supervisors, and 1,000 kyats subsidy be provided once every 15 days.

Dishang Fashion (Myanmar) Co., Ltd is a Chinese national-owned garment factory, reportedly employing around 900 workers and manufacturing ONLY and Bestseller brands. Workers stated that although a WCC (Workplace Coordination Committee) has been formed within the factory, no trade union has been established.
