Unlicensed online sellers will be taken actions

The Department of Trade announced on August 9, 2024 that unlicensed online sellers will be taken actions.

The Ministry of Commerce announced on July 21, 2023 that online sellers to apply for registration of goods and services businesses.

Businesses that sell online without a registration certificate will be prosecuted under Section 5 of the Important Goods and Services Law starting from the 6th month after the issuance of the notice.

As the notification period has been over six months, action will be taken if it is found selling online without registration.


A person who will be prosecuted can be sentenced to a minimum of six months to a maximum of 3 years in prison, as well as a fine of not more than 500,000 kyats According to Section 5 of the Important Goods and Services Law.
