According to the swiftlet livestock entrepreneurs, the market of building nests and selling edible bird's nest has increased and there are investors who invest hundreds of millions of kyats.

In addition to private breeders, commercial breeders only raised one or two nests in the past, but now many nests have been expanded.

"In the current situation, people are not comfortable in other businesses. The market of swift let nests is on demand and people came to invest here. A nest cost a ten of millions at most before. Now they are building nests that hundreds of millions of kyats per one nest. There were only one or two nests per person, now some people have expanded to around 10 nests," said a swiftlet livestock entrepreneur.

Swiftlet edible nests are imported to China which have a good demand and sells from 30 lakhs kyats to more than 50 lakhs kyats per peik tha (1.63kg) according to the quality of the nest. 

Due to the good demand for bird nests, there is a demand for workers in the bird nest cleaning services. 

"As the bird nest business expended, there is a need for workers in the bird nest cleaning business.  Yangon alone may need about 100 workers. We have to provide workers training to clean bird nests. They can't do it plain. We have to train the workers who will do it because there are cleaning techniques," said a swiftlet livestock entrepreneur.

The bird nest business has been expanded during this year, and the number of swiftlet nests built in Yangon Region has reached around 400.
