The Japanese government demands the release of the Japanese national, director of Aeon Orange shopping center

The Japanese government and the Japanese embassy in Yangon have demanded the release of the director of the Aeon Orange Shopping Center, who was arrested on the grounds that selling rice higher than the reference price.

The Japanese embassy in Myanmar told the NHK Japanese news agency that it has learned of the detention of a Japanese national and has requested the Myanmar military to release the Japanese national.

Mr. Kasamatsu Hiroshi, the director of Aeon Orange, also included in 4 officials from 22 shopping centers who were taken actions under Section 5 of the Important Goods and Services Law of 2012 for selling rice at a profit of 51% to 70% more than the set price.

The Japanese citizen was detained at the police station in Yangon and is being investigated by the relevant authorities.

City Mart, One Stop Mart and Sein Gayhar officials are arrested for selling rice at a price higher than the set price. And the SAC announaced on June 30th that 7 rice business people will also be taken actions under Section 5 of the Important Goods and Services Law of 2012 for selling rice at a price higher than the set price.
