A labor activist told Myanmar Labor News that the chief of the office of labor guidance ask that what the workers suffer for the fake signature, regarding the factory use worker’s fake signature in the EC contracts.
WEI HUA (Myanmar) Garment Co.,Ltd and a female worker seek for resolvent in the office of Department of Labour in Shwe Pyi Thar Township, as the later was fired and cheated on her signature. A supporting team member said that the chief told that fake signature doesn’t cause the worker anything when they have the last negotiation on February 20th.
“He shouldn’t ask what the worker suffer regarding the employer cheat their signature. Its not in accordance with the law. They can’t decide whether the worker suffer or not, their duty is just to resolve the dispute,” said the supporting member.
The chief of the office of labor guidance is responsible for checking the EC contract whether it is in accordance with the Employment and Professional Development Act or if both the parties had already agreed.
WEI HUA (Myanmar) Garment Co.,Ltd force the workers who are worrying about the conscription law to work until 20:00. A worker said “They recircuit beyond the law as there are new orders in the factory and we are afraid to work due to the conscription. But the all supers and supers told us not to come in the next day if we can’t work overtime.”
An inspecting came to WEI HUA (Myanmar) Garment Co.,Ltd on February 8th but the factory had already selected the workers to answer and continue to violate the laws after the inspection.
They reported to the labor office as the factory continue to call for overtime and the factory finish the overtime while the inspecting team came to check at 19:30 on February 20th.
“We came back at 19:30. The inspecting team is around 10 people. They found out how are we being forced of overtime. I don’t know which action would they take,” said the worker.
The Wai Hua Myanmar garment factory located at Kanaung Min Thar Gyi Street, Industrial Zone (1), Shwe Pyi Thar Township and owned by a Chinese national. The factory is operating with around 600 workers and manufacturing MOHITO. Hgtncalif, Hang Ten, Cortefiel and Hanure brand fabrics.
