Dear Editors,

I would like to share my experience regarding the North Dagon Social Security Clinic. The clinic is labeled as a "Social Security Clinic," and a signboard displaying both the "Tawin Nagar Clinic" name and the "Social Security" logo together with Tawin Nagar logo is posted. The clinic is located on Bo Min Yaung Road.

Since this clinic is supposed to serve workers as a Social Security clinic, I’m not sure if this is why, but there is rarely a doctor available, and they do not have a sufficient supply of medicine.

I have not even made a claim for any other social security benefits.

I am a worker based in East Dagon. Because I was unwell, I went to the Tawin Nagar Clinic in North Dagon to apply for medical leave. However, when I arrived at the clinic, the doctor was not available. It was only 9:00 AM, so I wondered, "Is it too early for them?" I decided to try again another day. I went back around 10:00 AM, but the doctor still had not arrived. The next time I went was around 12:30 PM, and only then did I get to see the doctor.

At that time, the doctor examined me and prescribed five types of medicine. However, only one type of medicine was available at the clinic. I was told that I would have to buy the rest of the prescribed medication myself.

I have been contributing over 5,000 MMK monthly to Social Security for more than seven consecutive years since I first started working. I have never once used the clinic services before this. I only went this time because I wasn’t feeling well.

Whenever I go to this clinic, there seems to either be no doctor available or the doctor hasn’t arrived yet, so I’ve ended up not being treated properly. I only went to this clinic because my workplace advised me to visit a contracted Social Security clinic. However, even though I was feeling unwell, I couldn’t get basic medicine for a sore throat, painkiller, or even antibiotics. All I received was a small bottle of a red liquid tonic. They didn’t even have a zinc supplement.

If the clinic cannot provide proper medical care or medicine, I recommend it to not open.
