A worker said that the manager of the Myanmar L&K factory resigned the dismissed in front of the official supervisor and dismissed again after three days with a notice.
“The official said they can dismiss with a notice if they want just in front of me and the manager did exact same thing,” said the worker who is dismissed again by the notice/
The workers said it is said while they were negotiating to get the wages for the negotiating period. The Korean employee dismissed 6 workers including the all super who refused to work free overtime on a Sunday in March and the workers reported to the office and that makes the factory to rehire and they signed at the labor office.
“We need the wages of the interim period. The official instructed to reduce the day counts to get the legal wages and that cost 3 days for us,” explained a worker.
The manager requested to reduce the interim day counts and to demote and pay cut at the labor office representing the employer. The all super said that she is hired with around 1,000,000 lakhs per month by the employer himself.
“They reduce the damages in front of the official and they refuse the official’s instruction to negotiate again if they demote me and they also said that the negotiations at the labor office is not legal but the factory’s words only. And they give a notice after 3 days but I don’t accept,” said the worker.
Myanmar L&K fashion factory locates at U Shwe Bin Street, Hlaing Thar Yar Industrial Zone 1, Yangon and operating with around 100 workers. Regarding the incident, the helping activist gave comment as follows:
“We can’t accept any of these kinds of illegal dismissals. Foreigner employer do not respect and follow Myanmar’s laws and they are violating it blatantly. I thinks these things happen because of the officials from the labor office couldn’t handle and take the actions strictly.”
It have been only 4 months Myanmar L&K factory started to operate and they are not manufacturing their own bran but manufacturing various brands of other factories.
