Eternal Fashion garment factory is calling excessive overtime.

We have to work mid night overtime today (October 26). We also have to work all day on October 27, which is Sunday.

The working hours are from 8:30 am to 8:10 pm.

The transportation is insufficient and it is not available at nights.

Workers from Samaluk, Twantay and Mawbe arrives home at around 11:00 pm which is not convenient for cooking let alone to eat.

The HR manager scold us with a speaker if we delay to go back to work for a minute after having lunch. Workers have to sleep unproperly for around half an hour while waiting for bus and workplace accidents occur rapidly due to excessive overtime.

We have to go back at 5:00 am if we work all night overtime. A female worker from the factory who worked all-night overtime was hit by a car at the BOC bus stop today October 24 when they get out from the car and we don’t know her situation yet.

The overtime is called since May and we have to work until 6:10 pm on Saturdays. We also have to work until 8:10 pm on weekdays.

It has been countless that we were forced to work mid-night (until 12:00 am) and all night (until 4:00 am) overtimes.

Other factories finish the work at 4:00 pm on pay day but ours finish at 5:10 pm. There is a workplace coordination committee but they don’t stand for the workers.

The manager and supervisors doesn’t let the factory know our problems. They are well paid. A manager got paid around 20 lakhs and an all super get paid more than 15 lakhs.

We, sewing workers get paid depends on how much we can manufacture. The super get paid more than 7 lakhs and leaders were get paid more than 6 lakhs. Those who are being scolded here are us, leaders and supers.

The all super and manager are getting paid just by complaining.

They are unconditionally biased and suppress the sub-ordinates. They flatter the foreigners and dehumanize us. The manager who manage line 1,2,3,4 and 5 is worse. They don’t pressure their friends and relatives but opposite for other workers.

They are pressuring us like something emergency is happening. We can only work overtime until 6:00 pm.

We are too tired and we want to rest on Sunday. But we have to come as we are discriminated if we don’t. The manager harass women if they don’t’ work overtime. We want day off on public holidays.

We are just working for our families.

The stuffs from office and superiors can drink purified drinking water but we drink unpurified one. It cause diarrhea to many workers every time we drink that water.

The township labour office came to investigate but nothing were changed and workers are still working poorly.

We want a certain inspection.
