The Military Council announced that the 2024 population and household census will be conducted nationwide from October 1 to 15.
The census reference time is midnight on September 30, 2024, with 68 questions for the household questionnaire, 18 questions for the organizational questionnaire will be asked and the census of 2024 will be announced by the end of December 2024.
“"Right now, there are announcements for the census in the center of the city and crowded areas. But the people are not interested. They want to hold an election after the census, so they are doing it desperately, but I don't think the current situation will be easy. It is impossible to get anything accurate. People are afraid of having to serve in the military, and many people are leaving their homes because of the region's instability. It is impossible to get an accurate population,” said a resident from Yangon.
The enumeration, audition coaching courses for each level will be started from August 2024. The central level coaching course will be lectured in Nay Pyi Taw and special coaching training will be lectured at Nay Pyi Daw and other states and divisions. District level coaching course will be lectured at 126th District capital towns and enumeration and audition courses will be lectured at around 900 townships.
If there areas left to be censused within the set date due to the difficulty of transportation and security measures, plans are being made to extend the date.
