It is said that the Ministry of Labor has directed agencies to submit evidence that 25 percent of the remittances of expatriate Myanmar workers have been sent to their families through official banks.

The proof of remittances to the families of the workers from September 2023 to April 2024 must be compiled and sent no later than the 5th day of each month starting from June 2024, and action will be taken against agencies that do not comply.

"They asked us to present proof that proof of remittances to the families of the workers we sent through official banks. It is difficult to ask how to contact the workers and how they transferred the money since it also include the transactions of 2023. No matter what the agency says, the workers transfer money with their consent. We cannot go tell them. Some of them do not transfer money to their families. How can we handle that. It has become more and more difficult for agencies that send foreign workers to continue to operate," said an official from the agency.

Agencies that sent more than 50 workers are said to follow the instruction and according to the list of expatriate workers, there are more than 65 agencies in 2023 September and 78 agencies in October, 83 in November and 56 in December, the Minister of Labor issued.

The Minister of Labor said that those agencies will be temporarily suspended to send workers to foreign country if they failed to provide the mentioned documents and evidences before June 28.
