I, Ma Yu Yu Naing, holder of National Registration Number 7/PAMANA(N)260344 and a resident of Htarmalon Village, Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region, arranged to go and work in Oman for three months period through agent Ko Lin Htun located at Anawma 16th Street, Thaketa Township.
I left Yangon on March 18, 2025, and arrived to Oman on March 21 at 1 AM. On March 23, 2025, I started working at my employer’s house.
However, I failed the blood test during the required medical examination for work and residence, and on April 28, 2025, my employer returned me to the Oman agent office. There, they claimed I would be re-tested. After waiting until the 21 days, I contacted the Myanmar agent, who said they would follow up.
That evening, a translator at the Oman office told me that I didn’t need further medical testing, that I was fine, and that I would be eligible to go for job interviews again. However, until now, the agent has not arranged proper medical testing, and though they say I can interview for a job but I am unable to work due to my poor health.
I am currently staying at the Oman agent’s office, unable to work and dependent on the food they provide, which I cannot eat due to health issues. I have respiratory issues and was told I have spots on my lungs during the scan. I had to buy my own meals using what little money I have left as I cannot eat the food provided. The Oman agent has not arranged any proper health checkup, and I remain unemployed and in poor health.
There was no solution when I contacted the Myanmar agent. Since I am unwell, I wish to return to Myanmar. However, the Oman agent insists that I must pay 10,000,000 MMK in order to be sent home. I do not have the means to pay this amount, especially as I am currently not working.
Workers’ requests:
- I, Ma Yu Yu Naing, wish to return to Myanmar due to my declining health.
- I am unable to pay the 10,000,000 MMK that the agent is demanding for my return.
