On July 5, the Ministry of Labor sent a notification to the Association of Burma Overseas Employment Service Operators that the job offers of MOU Myanmar workers who are going to work at construction sites in Thailand will be temporarily suspended from July 4 due to labor problems occurring in the workplace.

The workplaces included in the job invitations and the actual workplaces of the workers are found to be incorrect, according to the Ministry of Labor's notice.

In addition, due to lack of employment after arriving at the workplace and other labor issues are occurring, job offers submitted to be sent workers to Thailand will be temporarily suspended from July 4.

"We don't know if the ministry has temporarily suspended the confiscated agencies to send construction workers to Thailand," said an official from an agency that sends workers to abroad.

The Ministry of Labor has notified the Myanmar Overseas Employment Service Operators Association to supervise the Thai licensed agencies to comply regarding this temporary suspension.

According to the Myanmar workers in Thailand, MOU Myanmar workers who are working as construction workers in Thailand don’t get full wages, stable employment and labor rights in the contract which leads to the rapid employer-employee disputes.
