On March 25, the Ministry of Labour under the military council announced that each licensed agency will only be allowed to submit job offer requests for five Myanmar workers per month when sending workers legally to Singapore.
This announcement is part of the military council’s ongoing daily directives imposing worker quotas for different countries. It follows earlier restrictions of 50 workers for Thailand, 15 for Japan, and 10 for South Korea. Now, a limit of 5 workers has been imposed for Singapore.
“They should just completely shut down overseas deployment if they wanted to. But now, with these limitations, it’s like you can’t even run a business anymore. Only one submission per month, with such a small number of workers—it’s already giving licensed agencies a headache. Some agencies are waiting to see how things unfold before returning their licenses, while others have already shifted to different kinds of business,” said a representative from a licensed agency.
The ministry will begin reviewing demand letters submitted before January 30, 2025, and any request exceeding five workers must be revised and resubmitted starting from March 25. Agencies will only be allowed one submission per month.
New job offer submissions will be accepted beginning on May 2.
