Over 20,000 Myanmar workers were inspected and 190 people without proper documents were arrested

According to Thai Department of Employment and the Myanmar Labor Helpers in Thailand, over 20,000 Burmese migrant workers were inspected and 190 people without proper document were arrested in a week when the Thai authorities checked to see if there were any foreign workers who did not have legal documents in workplaces in Thailand.

It is announced that over 26,000 foreign workers, including Myanmar nationals, were inspected from June 5th to June 12th in a 120-day plan to investigate and arrest foreign workers working illegally in Thailand.

More than twenty-six thousand migrant workers (26,189), were inspected including 20,111 Myanmar nationals, 3,971 Cambodian nationals and 1,659 Laos nationals and 190 Myanmar nationals were arrested.

"There are a lot of investigations in Bangkok. Due to the political situations in Myanmar, there are many people coming to Thailand, so the arrests are on the raise. Myanmar nationals has warned each other to be careful when traveling with no document," said a Myanmar worker in Bangkok.

The Thai authorities inspected the construction, factories, workshops, markets and the shopping malls.
