The report states that the VPN App is an illegal app that can browse the content of relevant overseas web pages or websites beyond China's official control.

It is written in a statement that the Chinese government strictly prohibits the use of this VPN App which can connect internationally without the permission for any organization or individual.

“There are hundreds of thousands of Myanmar nationals not only in Yunan but also in North Eastern region both legally and illegally. Therefore, the announcement is written in both Burmese and Chinese. Myanmar workers will be permitted to work legally in Tae Hone Region, so both the Myanmar nationals here and those who would come in the future need to care about the announcement,” said a Myanmar national working at the Chinese border.

Anyone who uses the illegal VPN app will be fined up to 15,000 yuan, and any earnings deemed illegal will be confiscated. Using a VPN app on a mobile phone to view and spread false comments, videos and rumors will be punishable by law, the statement said.

Another warning is that activities such as downloading personal use and selling VPN mobile apps will be severely punished according to the law of the Chinese police department.

Not only in China, but also in Myanmar, the Junta has banned some social networks and VPN apps, and there are attempts in June to ban VPN apps from tracking workers in industrial zones have caused difficulties in using social networks.
