According to the licensed agencies that send workers to Thailand legally, Myanmar MOU workers send to Thailand via flight starting April 29.

MOU Myanmar workers were previously sent from Myawaddy - Mae Sot and Kaw Thaung-Ranong routes, and this is the first time to send from Yangon to Don Mueang Airport starting April 29.

Agencies said that the Myawaddy Mae Sot routes is currently unusable due to the on going battles.

“It is not necessary to send workers with flight, they can use the old routes too. A new route will add if we use flight but the workers would cost additional 145 USD,” said an official from a licensed agency which is sending workers to Thailand legally.

It has been a long time since Thai-Myanmar officials have discussed and negotiated to send workers via flight, but it will start sending only at April 29 because of preparations.

Therefore, on April 29th, 100 workers will be sent by air, and depending on the number of workers, it is planned to send up to 400 per day and there are also plans to extend the airlines.

Before this, 700 or 800 MOU workers are sent to Thailand via Myawaddy Mae Sot route daily.
