The workers from KAIXI MYANMAR FASHION CO,LTD garment factory which locates in Pan Pae Khaung Maung Khat Street, Industrial Zone (4), Shwe Pyi Thar Township, Yangon Region told that they want the employer to inform them openly if the factory is going to close down as there are people transporting and selling the equipment in the factory.
There were workers who have left their jobs as the factory have not called OT for more than 1 year due to low orders, and currently, the equipments of the workers who left their jobs are being disassembled and sold each part, so they want the employer to take responsibility if the factory is going to be closed down, the workers said.
"Before that there were more than 1,000 workers, and as they did not call OT for more than 1 year, the workers who were not comfortable left and now there are only 600 left. They removed the machines one by one of the workers who left and put them in the parking box and sold them. Also, there are only a few machines left for the cutting part and the machine line in the workplace. We want to be sure to know if the factory will be closed down," said the worker.
The workers also said that they are worrying as the employer is transporting and selling equipment without informing them whether the factory will continue to operate or not.
In addition, not all workers are entitled to the benefits of the law in the workplace are those who are not entitled to benefits are cut for 4,800 kyats of daily wages and 10,000 kyats of attendance bonus; a total of 14,800 kyats for missing a day of work.
“We want them to pay the damages in accordance with the law if they are going to close down the factory. It seems like they are dragging for now. By looking the feat that they are selling the equipments of the workers who resigned as they can’t withstand with daily wages, we feel that there is no honesty. The workers are worrying that if cheat illegally,” said the worker.
The workers would like to appeal to allow them to enjoy equal benefits in the workplace and to take responsibilities in accordance with the law if the entrepreneur is to stop operating the business due to various reasons.
The Myanmar Labor Law stipulates that the entrepreneurs must pay the workers the remaining wages, notice fees and damages based on the amount of time they have worked, if the factories are closed for various reasons,
