It has been reported that workers and brokers are falsifying the documents required to apply for an overseas employment identification (OWIC) card.
In the past, 22 workers were blacklisted because they submitted forged documents to the Department, and their permission to travel abroad was blocked, and some of the participants were taken action.
At present, they have heard of illegal entrances to other countries by applying for OWIC, claiming to be Macau, so they will thoroughly check the fake documents.
In the past, because there were so many OWIC card applicants, it was not possible to verify the authenticity of the document, and some brokers and workers took advantage of this and made fake paper documents. An official from the Ministry of Labor of the Junta said that they will be allowed to print an OWIC card after the documents have been thoroughly verified.
Currently, the OWIC card must be applied for at the Ministry of Labor in Nay Pyi Taw with the necessary documents, and it is said that they are being issued at the North Dagon Labor Training School and the 8 Mile Labor Office in Ma Yan Gone Township.
From 1990 to August 2023, over 1.6 million overseas employment identification (OWIC) cards have been issued to over 1.6 million workers who went to work in 89 countries, including Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Japan, and Malaysia, through the agency's program or with their own program or return PR.
