Burmese migrant workers from ItaIian Thai DeveIopment Public Co.,Ltd’s deep seaport construction project in La Yaung township, Chon Buri District, Thailand protested after not getting paid.
"We struggle to eat and survive without receiving our wages. Despite peacefully requesting payment, our situation remains unchanged. That's why we're protesting," said a worker who participated in the protest.
The workers are asking for their wages since March 6th and there was no resolvents, so that the workers protested in March 7. The company called Thai authorities and police during the protest and the workers get their wages back after the police helped with the negotiation,” said the workers.
“The incident took place in Phaleng San and the workers are construction workers. They all get back their wages in the evening,” said an activist who is helping Burmese migrant workers in Thailand.
More than 300 MOU workers and more than 100 CI workers; a total of 500 workers protested the ItaIian Thai DeveIopment Public Co.,Ltd to pay the wages.
It is also known that those workers also seek for help from Worker Assistant Group For Myanmar on the morning of March 7 to reclaim their total wages, exceeding 6 million Baht.
