It is reported that 126 Myanmar workers were defrauded of hundreds of millions of kyats although the discussion to send Myanmar seasonal workers to South Korea has not been settled yet.

“Myanmar can’t provide the documents South Korea asked for and vice versa. The project is managed by the mayor and it doesn’t need immigrations and labor ministries. But Myanmar would only allow to send workers only after those documents are approved. That’s where things are still. And we can’t gather people for the negotiations. It is obvious that they are lying when you listen logically to what scammers say. But people don't care as they want to go right now,” said a person who is sending migrant workers.

Daw Chaw Su Hlaing said that she would quickly send seasonal workers to South Korea, and the 126 trainees from Myint Mo Academy were pre-purchased at the rate of 2,750,000 kyats and 3,200,000 kyats each. The contract was signed but workers are not going anywhere so they announce via the lawyers to resolve.

“They scam a large amount and not black listed. Its just for a school. But we don’t know how many such schools are there. Korean language school owners are having a headage now. People want to go quick as soon as possible and don’t think logically,” they said.

Ever since the news broke that they were discussing sending seasonal workers to South Korea, financial scams involving recruiting people to go to South Korea as seasonal workers have occurred throughout the country. Agencies said that they warn not to make advance payments until there is a press release from the relevant government, and they also have repeatedly warned that the recruitment of temporary workers is still under discussion and has not been confirmed.

Currently, there are a lot of scammers on the internet about hiring seasonal workers in Korea. The current fraud of thousands of dollars is also the first to come to light, but it is also known that there may be many frauds in other language schools as well as individually to the workers.

The countries are still on the state of discussing the possibility of sending seasonal workers to South Korea. The recruitment of seasonal workers in Korea is not managed by the Korean Ministry of Labor and other departments, but by the mayor's plan, so the Myanmar side has not been able to provide the necessary documents.

Currently, there are more and more financial frauds with documents claiming that seasonal workers are being recruited to South Korea. Also, the fraudulent recruitment of seasonal workers started at the beginning of last October and have been ongoing until now.

Regarding the issue, the Republic of Korea Embassy, Yangon has confirmed that documents related to the sending of seasonal workers from Myanmar are being shared on the Internet.

It is also announced that the documents and information are not relevant to the Korean government and the Republic of Korea Embassy, Yangon, and the Korean government has not issued any announcements regarding seasonal workers in Myanmar.

Seasonal workers do not need to speak Korean and there is no need for educational qualifications, and they work for eight months a year, then take a break for three months, and after they have worked for five years, they can change to another type of visa.
