Workers at Wan He Shou Fashion Co., Ltd., a garment factory located on intersection of Min Gyi Mahar Min Khaung Road and U Pho Hlaing Road, Shwepyitha Industrial Zone 3, Yangon, are demanding the dismissal of the HR manager, along with four other requests.

The factory opened in December 2024, employs over 600 workers, and manufactures the Sinsay brand. STUM reports that line leaders involved in the demands are also facing efforts to have them dismissed.

“They don’t provide snacks or cold drinks during overtime. They don’t order meals either. Daily wages aren’t paid equally. Overtime pay isn’t given. They only give us 3,000 kyat as a meal allowance and we have to order food ourselves. They constantly call for midnight and overnight overtime. It wasn’t like this under the previous managers— they gave snacks and arranged meals. But this manager only gives 3,000 kyat for meals, doesn’t allow us to go out, and we always get allowed to leave only at 7:30 PM on paydays. And every Saturday, we have to work dawn overtime,” workers told STUM.

The five demands raised by the workers are: the dismissal of the HR manager, an end to unauthorized overnight and dawn overtime shifts, meal arrangements during overtime, repair of toilet facilities, and early release at 4:30 PM on paydays.
