Workers from Beaume International Garment Mfg Limited which located at No - , Phanchatwun U Shwe Oo Street, Industrial Zone 2, Hlaing Thar Yar Township said that they are seeking resolvents for workplace violations.
The factory hires more than 1,000 workers and manufacturing Japanese ordered I’Z FRONTIER, COOL WORK, Beaume, TOM TOMPSON and NEODRY brand warm cloths, jackets, pants and jean pants.
The working hours are from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm and workers are asked for excessive fabric outputs. A production line with 70 workforce including the supervisors, helpers, seamstresses and clerks are asked for 500 garments in 10 working hours.
The manager verbally abuse the workers for not finishing the demands and all super is also pressurizing the workers daily. The factory calls mandatory overtime every day including public holidays and those who refuse to work overtime are. Workers who refuse to work overtime are discriminated and held grudges but they are working due to fear of losing their jobs.
It is also said that legal casual and medical leaves are not allowed and workers were cut 6,800 kyats daily wages, 27,000 kyats attendance bonus for any types of leaves.
Child laborers hired in the factory are assigned the same tasks with the adult workers.
“The dispensary located at the upper floor at a factory with 1,000 workers. Transportation is not enough for all workers and it is dangerous as some have to stand. The restrooms are unsanitary and we want maintenance. There are workplace accidents in cutting departments. There are no changes even after investigation from labour departments. We don’t know whom to rely on,” a female worker stated.
Workers are seeking for legal rights, 1 day off per week and fair workplace with dignity and their demands are

2. To provide maintenance for the restrooms
3. To ask only for fair fabric output demand
4. To not force the child laborers the same as adults
5. To not call overtime on Sunday and to ask workers consents for recruiting overtime
The supervisors, managers and cashier to not verbally abuse the workers
