Workers from Dongxin Garment Co.,Ltd. which located at Nawaday Road, Industrial Zone 3, Hlaing Thar Yar Township said that they are being violated by not being explained the legal laws they must know, verbally abused and not able to complaint, forbitten and intimidated with employment to not complaint to labor office and inspections by the workplace coordination committee formed by the employer.
The workers can’t choose their representatives for the WCC but just to vote those who the employer selected in their favor. The WCC only follows the employer’s order instead of addressing the workplace disputes.
A member from the first term of WCC was dismissed without valid reason before the end of the 2 years term of WCC and the case is being resolved in the labor office.
The factory doesn’t allow the workers to take legal medical leaves and just allow them to rest for a few minutes in the dispensary. The dispensary does not have sufficient medicines as well.
The factory hires many day laborers who get paid monthly and they are dismissed as soon as the tasks got fewer. They are never hired more than 6 months.
The factory ignores the law that employees must be provided employment contract within 30 days and the employer’s wife who is the interpreter dismiss whoever ask for the employment contract.
Some workers informed that the HR, supervisors and clerks are collaborating to inspect the workers that as the most violating factory’s news went viral.
The factory told that workers’ phones well be confiscated with responsibility and accountability in the meeting which was held at 3:30 p.m. on 23th July 2024.
The employer can’t speak Burmese and the misinterpret on intention of the employer’s wife and the manipulation of the clerks cause the workers to suffer.
