Workers are reportedly staging a collective work stoppage to make demands at Sen.Yu Myanmar garment factory, located in Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone on Bhamo Main Road, Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon. According to the workers, nearly 1,000 employees are participating, demanding equal daily wages for both regular workdays and holidays, as they informed the Federation of General Workers Myanmar (FGWM).

"Our protest started yesterday (April 23). Almost all the workers are stopping work inside the workplace itself. On regular workdays, they pay 8,800 but they only pay 6,800 kyats on holidays. We are demanding that 8,800 kyats be paid equally for both holidays and workdays. Other demands include raising the daily wage, increasing OT pay, raising regular day wages, increasing grade pay, and ensuring that workers can finish work at the regular time of 6:30 PM," the workers said.

SEN YU garment factory is Chinese national-owned and manufacturing brands such as REDTAPE and NAUTICA.
