A worker who participated in the protest for transportation fee at Vince Myanmar footwear factory said that the protest started on October 7, 2024 and the negotiations are still being conducted.
“The factory asks workers to pay half of the transportation fee. The drivers asked for 60,000 kyats on October 3, 2024 and the factory asks 40,000 kyats from each worker after pay day. The workers doesn’t have to pay the transportation fee anymore after paying their expenses. The factory said they would front it and will cut for two month fees in the next month and workers are protesting against that,” they said.
The protest took place at the dinning room of the factory and around 200 workers participated except the supervisors and leaders. The negotiations are carried out by both parties and settlement was reached, a worker said.
“We don’t need to pay for September and we have to pay 15,000 kyats each for this month and the factory would pay for the remaining. I heard that the agreement will be signed in witness of the labour office officials tomorrow,” a worker said.
The Vince Myanmar factory locates at Myay Thaing Ward No-166, Compound No-2, South Dagon Township, Yangon region and it is operated by one hundred percent foreign investments according to the information of DICA.
