The owner of VHT factory in Bago City said on payday that they couldn’t pay our wages. For June, they only gave out 150,000 kyats.

They told us to wait until today, Monday, and Tuesday to get the rest. Some workers took the 150,000 kyats, but others didn’t. There are said to be over 10,000 workers in the factory, though I don’t know the exact number. Each worker is supposed to get over 400,000 kyats for June.

We earned around 350,000 kyats last month. We had to do overtime until 7:30 PM and also worked one Sunday in June. Overtime was 3.5 hours per day.

Wages include a base rate of 7,800 kyats and overtime is 1,800 kyats perday. The support allowance has been raised by 1,000 kyats, but it doesn’t include Sundays. We are currently sewing winter wear. We’re not sure if we’ll get paid even today. They said maybe tomorrow.

Creditors are already showing up at our homes as we haven’t been paid. Creditors said other factories paid on the 5th day and accusing us of lying. They don’t believe us.

Workers who live in dormitory and those from far places rely solely on this salary. Our families and parents are depending on this wage.

The call us overtime on Sundays and also at night.

Some workers are even crying as they haven’t been paid.

They’re giving out150,000 kyats, and said whoever wants to take it can take it, and those who don’t can wait. We don’t get any rest even though we work OT until 7:30 at night. We have to continue working non-stop after lunch, .

We thought the salary would be good since we were called for excessive overtime. But now, the pay is being delayed day by day. We just want to receive our salaries on the dates they promised, as stated in the notice.
