Two workers from Wai Hua Myanmar were dismissed after having a workplace dispute

The manager of Wai Hua Myanmar garment factory which locates at Shwe Pyi Thar Industrial Zone (1) had fired two workers who had a workplace disputes due to misunderstandings.

A worker explained that two workers had a dispute regarding the installation of needle cover for the sewing machine while the inspectors from the brand were to come.

“We had disputed regarding the work but we don’t do anything which would harm to each other. The factory dismissed us instead of resolving. They should just make a warning,” said Ma Nwe New Aung.

Wai Hua Myanmar employment contract stated that “Intimidating, bullying and physically assaulting in the workplace” as a normal offence in appendix (a) and “Physically brawling, rioting and physically assaulting someone to cause severe pain and arguing and scuffling” are described as a serious offense in appendix (b) and said the action is dismissing.

“They don’t take any actions while the all supers did the same. They recircuited overtime until mid-night 00:00 without providing transportation. The two workers would have mistakes  as they have to do every works urgently just before the inspecting team come,” They are forcing the stuffs to sign warning and dismissed them for minor mistakes while they don’t see their own mistakes.  The employers didn’t sign the EC contract themselves. It’s the factory who did it,” said a worker who don’t want to be named.

Wai Hua Myanmar garment factory located at Industrial Zone (1) Ka Naung Min Thar Gyi Street and owned by a Chinese national. The factory is manufacturing MOHITO, Hgtncalif, Hang Ten, Cortefiel and Hamure brands with more than 600 workers.
