To Whom It May Concern,

We are workers from the Tianjin Fashion Mile Stone factory, located on Seikkanthar Road in the Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone, Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon.

We are writing this because we are currently facing serious threats in the workplace.

The supervisor and the line leader are unfairly giving preferential treatment to their own relatives inside the factory, on B1 sewing line. These family members are awarded higher grades and are given fewer sewing points to complete. In contrast, workers who are not on good terms with the supervisor are given the lowest grade and are forced to sew items that would normally be handled by two people all by themselves, under pressure.

The B1 supervisor, his younger brother (the line leader), and his daughter repeatedly threaten us by saying things like, “We’ll hire thugs to kill you.” These death threats are not one-time occurrences but happen frequently.

Around July 20, the supervisor verbally abused a worker, blaming her for not meeting the garment target. When the worker tried to speak up for herself, he physically assaulted her by hitting her on the back.

We, the workers, have reported these unfair treatments, threats, and acts of physical violence multiple times to both the factory’s WCC and the HR Manager. However, no effective actions have been taken until now.

We’ve heard that an investigation may be ongoing, but as time passes, we’re growing more anxious and fearful.

Due to the lack of accountability from those in charge, we are all deeply worried for our safety and the fear in our working environment keeps growing.

Therefore, we strongly request that action be taken against the supervisor and line leader who are responsible for the threats to our lives, physical violence, and discriminatory behavior in the workplace in accordance with labour laws and that our safety and protection be guaranteed.

Respectfully,
Workers from B1 Sewing Line
