Those who coerced children into selling flowers and exploited the wages were sentenced to 10 years in prison and labour

It is known that 2 people who coerced underage children into selling flowers at Shwe Gone Daing Intersection, Yangon and exploited the wages were sentenced to 10 years in prison and labor.

“The children are quite young. Sometime I saw them beating the children and I feel sorry. The children are forced to work all day and night. They are not their children but seems like adopted to force their labour. There are still more at Thuwanna intersection and South North Intersection. The children are too young. It is a good new if they can take effective action because the children are too pity,” said a taxi driver from Yangon.

The children were forced to sell flowers from 5:00 am to 12:00 am and they were physically abused if they can’t sell all flowers.

The perpetrators are from Bahan and Shwe Pyi Thar and sentenced to 10 years in prison and labour for forcing labour and physically abusing every day, according to the news agency of the SAC.

Daw Shwe Zin Win from Bahan Township, Yangon and her daughter May Thander Win from Shwe Pyi Thar Township are sued with (Pa) 39/2024, Section-35 of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law at Bahan City Police Station for forcing the children to sell flowers from 5:00 am to 12:00 am, physically abusing if they can’t sell all flowers and exploiting their wages.

The Kamayut District court sentenced Daw Shwe Zin Win aka ET Ma and May Thander Win to 10 years in prison and labour on August 27, 2024 according to Section-35 of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law.
