The preliminary hearing of prosecution of Chu Yang Myanmar's factory owner began

It is learnt that the preliminary hearing of prosecution of Chu Yang Myanmar's factory owner who was sued by 13 cases including labor right violations began on August 22. The factory is located at Wun Saung Mhu Street, War Ta Yar Industrial Zone, Shwe Pyi Thar.

“Its civil case for violating the employment contract. They fired the workers without giving notice and warning. The factory is sued for 13 cases since the start of 2024. We have finished helping other cases. Only Zaw Myo Tun and trade union case left,” said the person who is helping.

Zaw Myo Tun, a worker from the factory sued the owner for violating the employment contract and a preliminary objection (1) was filed at the Shwe Pyi Thar Township court trial on August 22, 2024. The next trial is scheduled on September 5, 2024.

There were 13 cases the workers from the factory ask for assistant which of them covers 3 case of illegal dismissal, 1 case of discrimination, 2 case of employment contract breaking, 2 case of not providing employment contract, 1 case of violating freedom of association, 3 case of pay cut and a case in which 140 workers collectively demand for pay raise. 

Chu Yang (Myanmar) Garment Factory is a Chinese national-owned CMP system factory with a 100% foreign investment and invested 2.136 million US dollars on March 9, 2020. It has European Flax certification and manufacturing Linen fabrics and is the largest EU brand manufacturing factory.

The main brands manufactured by the factory are Rainbow, Bodyflirt and bpc Selection Brands. These brands are sub-brands of Bonprix Brand based in Hamburg, Germany.
