The owner of Htun Myint Htun Co,Ltd (Lucky Shwe Owo Noodles) instructed the manager to fire 6 workers without compensation saying that they did not have a letter of employment, the workers said.
"Our manager showed us the massage that the boss replied him via viber about the issue of compensation from the labor law, the employer said that as there were no employment letters, we can be laid off simply," said the workers.

When the workers complained via the manager to claim damages according to the law, the employer told them through Viber to make them stop working without compensation as there were no employment letters.
‘Then, the employer ask 6 of us weather would we submit letter of resignation or take a letter of dismissal. We said we can’t submit letter of resignation so that we ask just to issue a letter of dismissal.
Later, he instructed the manager to lay off us by finding us mistakes. The manager resigned saying that he cannot accuse those didn’t do any mistakes,” said a worker.
Out of the 6 workers currently planned to be laid off by the factory, 2 sales supervisors were demoted without issuing a letter of resignation and were forced to sign unilateral charges in December.
The workers also said that as the two workers refuse to sign, the factory is no longer providing transportation service to and from work.
"The position was reduced to a senior salesman. The salary has also been reduced for 150,000 kyats. He said we have mistaken and did not ask us to give a solution at all. We did not sign as we weren’t as he said. Now, going to work has become uncomfortable and stressful. Health is also affected. I have to go to clinics continously. The HR department has informed me that the factory does not recognize the social security leave and it will not be given.
The workers said that even though they have complained to the relevant offices to resolve the grievances of the current workers, there are failures from the factory side.
"The labor offices did not come to inspect. If they don't come and face it, they could be taken action according to the labor laws. I think the side which doesn't come will suffer more," said one of the labor activists.
The owner of Htun Myint Htun Co., Ltd. is a Myanmar national and the factory locates at Yaw Secretary U Phoe Hlaing Road, East Dagon Industrial Zone, Yangon. The factory has around 200 workers and manufacture a variety of dry noodles under the Lucky Shwe Owo brand.
