A male worker at the BOHUA Garment Factory was fired himself told Myanmar labour news that his normal argument with a supervisor were accused as skirmish.

“I retaliate as the supervisor is scolding and they accused it as a skirmish in the workplace,” said the male labour.

The supervisor told him that “How you guys useless? Can’t even do this,” when he appointed them to move a 20 fabric rolls which has around 150 meters to four stories and the labours told “Its not possible with only two people,”.

“We can’t carry it to 4 stories height. Its not the level our height reach. Its super heavy even with two people. The slur he used is too rude. He left and came back to scold again telling that we don’t work professionally in front of other people,” the labour explains the details.

After a few words between the male worker and the warehouse supervisor (super), the super complained to the office. The male labour said that he was fired after that.

“They said that they could fire me because of my service is only 1 month old. As written in the dismissal letter, there was no conflict. As per their words that I don't follow the management, its means I have to risk my life for mismanagement. It is fair to make us carry the over buy light fabrics. But it's linen rolls. Before that I refused some warehouse works that they assigned me to do at house. I think that I was fired because of that,” said the labour.

He said that the day before September 14, when the argument occurs, he refused the work that the warehouse supervisor told him to cut about a thousand adhesive tapes.

"A thousand piece of adhesive tape takes about an hour even if it is cut by an expert. You can make an appointment at the factory.  I can cut it than. As soon as I got home, I had to do housework. It is not easy to take a factory job home. No wages for that. We only get 4,800 per day," he said.

When BOHUA FASHION Co,.ltd started recruiting, they said they would pay 5,600 per day. The labours complain about this when the found out that the according to the EC contract they would only get paid 4,800 MMK but they were told that “don’t work if you don’t like,”.

"In EC information, it is classified as ordinary and serious mistakes. Even if it's wrong, I think it should be only be a warning with reasons. Now, the factory is biased and discriminated between senior and junior positions," said the male worker.

According to Ma Aye Aye, who is handling the labor dispute, it is not a fair decision to fire only one person in the conflict between the two sides.

"Being fired at a time when jobs are scarce will be difficult for labours. The labour’s service is also low, so the factory's decision becomes "adding insult to injury". The factory also pays a notice, but it is good to decide according to the wishes of the labour." Ma Aye Aye said.

The labour told Myanmar Labor News that on September 15, the factory paid him who only have a service of a little over a month old, a month notice fee and wages based on the days he worked.

BOHUA Fashion Co.,ltd factory located in Ban Maw Secretary Street, Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon was reported in September for labor rights violations.

It is known that the owner of the factory is a Chinese national, having around 300 laboursers and manufacturing clothes from other factories.

The brands that the factory manufactures are Sinsay, Protection CROPP, P&VV and reserve.
