The Junta personals are searching the workers phones at bus stops in Hlaing Thar Yar Industrial Zone which is the workers’ way back home and arresting the workers.

It is said that the casual investigation is to check the call logs and photos in their Telegram, Facebook and Viber social apps and also to check weather they use VPN or not.

“They checked since 15th May. They checked for social apps like Telegram. The workers are worry. Those who don’t have telegram are fortunate but most workers don’t use. Actually, it is human right violations. Everyone will be worry if they are investigated no matter whether they are workers are not. They shouldn’t control and monitor the citizens,” said a labor activist.

The junta soldiers are patrolling every day in crowded areas such as industrial zones where motorcycles and three-wheelers are prohibited. Those who drive or ride those are arrested.

“They want to put fear inside the basic class and want to coerce money. We have difficulties in transportation as three-wheelers are prohibited and the commodity prices are raising. I saw those who were arrested after being searched in their phones but I don’t know weather they are released or coerced. But I am sure they will be charged financially. It is making the basic class more difficult when our salary don’t cover the raising expenses,” said a Hlaing Thar Yar resident.

There are around 8 armed personals with uniforms every night and checking at different places for 1 hour per check point. They are also beating up and arresting youths and three-wheelers drivers.
