Labours from international brands manufacturing garment factories and activists who are arrested by the Junta and deported to Inn Sein Prison from interrogation in June are released in the evening of September 4.
The military council arrested the labours of the Ho Sang (Myanmar) and Sun Apparel Myanmar garment factories and Action Labor Rights members.
Two women and a man from Action Labor Rights group, four women and a man from Ho Sanp (Myanmar) and a woman and a man the Sun Apparel Myanmar. The military council announced the arrest of a total of 10 people. Again, 2 were arrested and were among those who released.
A total of 12 people (4 from Action Labor Rights Group, 5 from Hosheng garment factory, 2 from Sun Apparel garment factory and a tea shop owner) who were arrested for about 3 months are all freed now.
An official of the Action Labor Rights group said that even though the arrested labours and labor activists were released, they warned the arrest for the next time, and they do not have an attitude of looking at the benefits of the labours.
“They do release. But they say they will arrest for real if that happens again. It seems like a threating although there is no commitment forced. We can’t say that their action is looking for the labours’ benefits. Their issue is followed by the issue of asking the wages aligned with the age. So, we can say that they warned not to do it again as they don’t want their benefits. I don’t know the specific reasons behind the releasing,” the above individual gives a comment.
The Junta arrested two labours from Sun Apparel Myanmar garment factory which locates in Malikha Street, Industrial Zone 5, Hlaing thar Yar Township, Yangon in June.
On June 6, more than 400 labours asked 25 facts including to increase 1,200 MMK for the daily wages and 20,000 MMK for attendance bonus. to protect against workplace injuries, to plan the impurity of drinking water, to make the paths roof-proof and to give a dining room. Two labour leaders were arrested for that.
