There have been more than 160 cases of diarrhea in three days in some townships in Yangon Region, and factory workers are facing difficulties.
Due to the high incidence of diarrheal disease, there is a growing concern among the public, and the workers who work in the densely populated factories are also concerned, so the workers said officials should investigate and prepared the requirements.
“Rather than providing awareness in our factory, I would like them to take care and inspect the toilets and garbage disposal areas, as well as drinking water and facilities. Now diarrhea have become quite a lot, more than 160 in 3 days. It can be occurred due to lack of hygiene. In addition, most factories do not have medicine ready. Workers can’t take more than one day off, so I'm quite worried about diarrhea spreading to factories,” said a factory worker.
Although the military council said that Disease prevention and control activities are being carried out due to the arrival of some patients with severe diarrhea symptoms in some townships in Yangon Region since the end of last June, by educating, providing drinking water purification tablets, chlorination for water purification, educating about health and harmony in food preparation, providing hand washing places with water and soap ready and the proper use of fly-free latrines to prevent diarrhea in schools, factories, workshops, monasteries, convent school, nursing homes, charities, classes and boarding-house, it is known that there is no medical check-up provided in the workshops and factories.
According to information from the Ministry of Health, there were 63 patients on July 6, 44 on July 7 and 60 on July 8, and there are around 10 patients with severe diarrhea.
"Actually, this is not normal. It is false that there are no deaths or deaths occurred due to weak immuration system effected by the covid. There are 4 people who died of diarrhea in Thaketa. One of them was an elderly woman. It was wrong to announce that there were no deaths.," said a local from Thaketa Township.
In order to prevent the disease from spreading through the markets, it is necessary to check the cleanliness of the environment in the markets using checklists and to meet the needs as soon as possible. It is also known that the condition of all patients with severe diarrhea is reported to be improving at present.
