Sudey garment factory, based in Bago, is requiring all workers to do an overnight shift until 4 AM on the night of July 8, according to workers.

“Today, they're forcing us to do an all-in shift until 4 AM, even though it's a religious observance day” a worker said. Workers who wanted to attend religious ceremonies on the full moon day refused to work the overtime, but supervisors responded with threats.

“They told us not to come in since the regular shift tomorrow morning when we said we didn’t want to work overnight shift. So, we were afraid of losing our attendance bonus. In the end, we had to sign the overtime form even though we didn’t want to work,” workers said.

Sudey garment factory operates under the CMP system and is owned by a Chinese citizen. It is 100% foreign-invested and employs over 1,500 workers. The factory is located in Kali Tatkalay Village, Bago Township, Bago City.
