Reports now indicate that seven more individuals — including her daughter — were also taken into custody on the night of July 28 following the detention of labour rights advocate Daw Myo Myo Aye on July 25 around 9:30 PM by SAC’s ward administrator and approximately ten plainclothes personnel.
Daw Myo Myo Aye, who leads the Solidarity Trade Union of Myanmar (STUM), was previously detained on April 15, 2021, under Section 505(a) and served six months in prison. This marks a renewed arrest by the authorities.
In total, eight individuals — including Daw Myo Myo Aye and her daughter — are currently detained, and the STUM office, located on Nawarat Road in Shwepyithar Township, Yangon, has been sealed by the authorities.
Concerns have been raised over Daw Myo Myo Aye’s health condition, as she requires regular medication.
Among the seven others detained are four women and three men. Their location remains unknown and no contact has been made at present, according to people close to them.
