Workers from Chinese national owns SHUNRONG GRAMENTS MYANMAR garment factory which located at Shwe Li Street, Industrial Zone (5), Hlaing Thar Yar Township said that the factory cut the daily wages, attendance bonus, overtime fees and expert fees of the workers that resigned.
The factory employes more than 500 workers and currently manufacturing PROTECTIVE INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS brands. The factory only have a workplace coordination committee instead of a trade union.
The working hours are from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm including 2 hours of overtime and the current wages are 4,800 kyats daily wages, 1,000 kyats stipend, 1,400 kyats per hour of overtime, 30, 000 kyats attendance bonus, 45,000 kyats for grade A, 30,000 kyats for Grade B and 10,000 kyats for Grade C as expert fees for 8 working hours.
“We worked from 18 to 20 days. Resigning from work doesn’t mean that we lost over expertise. They didn’t calculate the stipend and reduce the overtime fees. It is exploiting from us. We don’t even get paid 300,000 kyats after working the whole month tirelessly. How we are going to cover our expenses. We are not asking for a raise but what we are entitled to,” said a worker.
The workers said that both themselves and their families are facing difficulties due to the pay cut of every resigned worker.
“We would like to request to give the daily wages, attendance bonus, expert fees and overtime fees with back date and to cut the workers wages only by proportional in the future. We want them to give for the working days,” the workers said.
