Workers from AYY Garment factory which locates near Dagon University, Thamein Bayan Street, East Dagon Township said that resigned workers are not get paid full wages.

“I worked at AYY garment factory starting on August 21, 2024 until September 2, 2024. The security told me to come back on September 10, 2024 when I went to take my salary on September 5. I said that I want to get paid today as I worked until September 2. The security went inside and later when he came back, he told me to come back the next day. But when I went there, he asked who told me to come here. The HR also came out and told to come back on September 10 because the Chinese national didn’t give yet. We don’t accept it and wait for so long. The Chinese national told me to move to other side,” said a worker.

The worker contacted the Labour office for being exploited and got paid 9 day wages excluding the Sunday wages.

“We called the Labour office to get our salary. But we aren’t still allowed to get into the factory. The HR sent the line super to pay us. The wages is only for 9 days excluding Sundays. Neither fabric fee is paid and it is taken by the manager. I get 104,000 kyats for 9 day wages. Manager got paid fabric fee for each production line. There are 11 lines, so they get fabric fees for 11 lines but the workers suffer,” the worker said.

It is said that the manager get 100,000 kyats, the supervisors and leaders get 50,000 kyats and subordinates with the same grade levels are given different fabric fees by the manager.
