The workers of San Yuan Oversea (2) Myanmar Apparel factory which locates at Western Road, Htan Ta Pin Industrial Zone, Htan Ta Pin Township, Yangon Division said that they want to request not to reduce their professionality fees.

In the previous months, the workers' wages were 4,800 kyats daily wages, 1,000 kyats allowance, 25,000 kyats attendance bonus, professionality fees - 40,000 kyats for A grade levels, 28,000 for B, and 1200 per hour overtime wages and cuts from the attendance bonus for taking a leave in the first half of the month. Currently, the factory told them via the line supers that the professionality fess 40,000 kyats for A grade levels, 28,000 for B will not be given any more due to the lack of orders so the workers said they want to appeal no to cut.

“We are worrying as the line supers said that professionality fees will not be given anymore. I would not be possible for us to pay the dormitory fees with current living expenses costs,” said the workers.

The workers said that they also want resolvents upon reductions of daily wages for taking social security leaves, taking too long to get the remaining 60 percent while only 40 percent of the wages are paid by the employer on maternity leaves.

According to the workers, they want to request to pay the professionality fees as before and not to deducted, to only ask the amounts they can sew, to give social security fees and medical leaves and not to cut for taking social security’s medical leave.

The factory which is manufacturing and exporting PADDED COLLECTION brand jackets and pants is owned by a Chinese national and it is known that no trade union is formed.
