Female workers employed at the Precol Myanmar factory say they have been harmed due to sexual harassment and power abuse by the factory manager, who allegedly failed to act in accordance with ethical standards. The same manager is also jointly overseeing the Pretxet factory, and both factories are reportedly owned by a single Chinese citizen.

“The person referred to as the manager is overseeing both factories. At those factories, he takes some female workers outside, and on some days we see them returning only the next day. How will others view us workers?” female workers said.

Workers also said that the manager sexually harasses interviewees and pregnant workers, including making inappropriate remarks and physical contact.

“He puts his arm around young women’s shoulders, pats their heads, holds their waists while walking, and says they will not need to take the interview if they kiss him, but they will need it if they do not kiss him. Then he calls them into his office and makes them put their hands between parts of his body. He asks pregnant women in front of others how they became pregnant and with whom,” workers said.

The factory manager is a Myanmar citizen. Female workers inside the workplace said that his sexual harrassment toward Myanmar women is creating an environment that makes it easier for foreign nationals to commit similar abuses.

“If we Myanmar people do not protect one another, what will happen if foreigners commit abuses? Others will not hesitate to insult or violate us when our own people are committing them,” they said.

The Precol factory is located at the Soutloutyay Bus Stop in Industrial Zone 1, Shwepyitha Township, Yangon. The Pretxet factory is located in Thadukan Industrial Zone. The manager accused of sexual harrassment oversees both factories. According to information received in 2025, the factories are producing garments under the Aircraft and Burtle brands.
