48,000 candidates took EPS TOPIK exam to work at South Korea in manufacturing sector. According to the first list released by the government's foreign employment agency, the number of passed candidates is only (5,540), so only one-tenth of them are passed for now.

Currently, there are many people who want to go to work in South Korea, and the passing score was set with a record score of 97.5 out of 100.

“I was calmed as I scored 92.5 in the exam. I though I passed and didn’t worry and now I feel suffocate as the passing score is set to 97.5. I invested my time and money for this exam and expecting so high. I queued in early morning to get a form and I am depressing after I see the passing score,” said an exam candidate.

Some educational institutions have criticized the examination system due to the high passing score.

“Skill test will be tested as well and the passed candidates have to try it. Those who fail can chose weather they want to try again or go to another country. The passing score is not fair. We have to keep an eye on the upcoming situations and currently there are critics upon the exam system,” said a person working in language teaching field. The two governments collaborated to send male workers to work in agriculture, livestock and manufacturing industries in South Korea. Female workers are also being recruited to work in service industries.

South Korea is a country where many Myanmar people want to go and work, and they had to wait all night to pay the exam registration fee.
