Yangon Fukuyama Apparel (YFA) garment factory which locates in War Ta Yar Industrial zone, Ta Bin Shwe Htee road, Shwe Pyi Thar township zone known for breaking the ILO Convention 87 blatantly as its cavity supers and leaders summon and intimidate the labours individually for being interest in forming a labour organization.
“The all super of line E called a meeting at 7:30, job start time in 2nd August 2023 and intimidated a speaker in order to be heard by the whole factory. YEF leaders would be stated as main culprit that hinders the right to freedom of association if they can’t stop their supers and leaders’ sinister actions and continue to interrupt.”, said by Unions Solidarity Trade Union of Myanmar (STUM) which is aiding the case.
STUM also listed again the case of hindering the right to freedom of association by the factory as they did not allow the labours gate pass to register the trade union in today 8th of August.
YEF was also filed lawsuit by the labour “Ma Ei Po Po Hlaing” in the end of last year, as the Shwe Pyi Thar Township Labour office issued a letter of permission to sue, for firing her for taking seniority leave which means the factory broke the EC contract.
Ma Ei Po Po Hlaing, sued the owner of the YFA factory for violating the employment contract, but the Chinese nationality factory owner was not in Myanmar, so the lawsuit was changed to the person responsible because he failed 5 court appearances. At the end of the 6th trial session in last May 5th, the court ordered that the two parties would be at the divisional court on May 19th to negotiate and whether it is convenient or not, they must come back to the court on May 20th. And it is known that they got the settlement there.
The factory is also known to manufacture the Jichodo brand.
