We are workers from New Plus garment factory and we are working mid-night overtime since the start of September.
We have to sleep unproperly at the factory, go back to home at the morning to take a bath and come back on time. Mid-night overtime is called all day since the start of the month. The only day exempted was the pay day on 5th September.
We were provided dinner for working mid-night overtime. But we have to cook the meals at the morning although we get paid overtime. It’s the workers who will suffer first if we are caught on guest inspections. We have concerns.
We have to work all night on Saturday, 7th September. Mid-night overtime is until 12:00 am and all night overtime is until 4:00 am.
I don’t want to work all night overtime but can’t help as my colleges work. The fact that I afraid of being treated with malice also plays a role. I can’t decide on my own consent. The factory implemented like that.
Packing super verbally abuse the workers excessively. Many female workers from her section resigned. There are both male and female workers in the factory and female workers feel embarrassed for being cursed. But that department always called overtime.
Inspectors came on August 23. Learnt that they are township Labour Officers. There were 5 of them and all are male. We have to work until 9:00 pm even on the day of inspection. Seems like the factory bribed the inspectors. We are also working all night overtime on tonight (September 10).
Please help us in accordance with the law.
