MYANMAR SYNERGY GARMENT factory which locates in Depayin Wun Htauk U Myae Street, Industrial Zone 2, Hlaing Thar Yar Township is a Chinese national owned factory and the workers said that the factory is asking excessive fabric outputs and abusing labor rights.
The factory is operating with more than 1,000 workers and manufacturing Sinsay and FBSISTER dress and pants.
The working hours are from 7:30 to 16:30 and the workers also have to work until 18:30. The wages are 4,800 kyats per daily wage, 1,000 kyats allowance, and 1,200 kyats per hour overtime and attendance bonus of 15,000 kyats.
The factory is asking excessive fabric outputs from the worker, asking 30 Sinsay brands fabric dress per hour and asking 240 to 300 pants per 10 hours. The supers are verbally abusing the workers for not meeting the fabric outputs too.
The factory tends to abuse more labor rights after the coup and there is neither trade union nor work place coordination committee to address the labor disputes in the workplace.
“The factory force us to vote the manager’s favor candidate in the WCC election. There is no interpreter in the factory which makes the foreigners directly manage and the workers. And workers’ consents are not asked for overtime on holidays and forced to work mandatorily. Those who refuse to work are pressurized and the supers confiscate the workers’ phones during the working hours,” said the workers.
They are not entitled to leaves and cut for attendance bonus and professional fees for taking leave.
The workers requests are the manager not to manage them directly, to hire Chinese interpreters, to call overtime with their agreements, not to deduct attendance bonus and professional fees for taking legal leaves, to ask only the possible outputs, the supers not to verbally abuse them and to select the WCC members with their consents.
