Mountain Tree’s factory charge physically assaulting the garment workers

A garment worker from Mountain Tree factory which locates near A Lal village, Shwe Lin Ban Industrial Zone said that the Chinese woman who is the factory charge is treating rudely upon them.

The factory have around 300 workers and 6 transportation bus which is not sufficient for the workers. The factory have been operating for 3 or 4 months and does not have EC contract with the workers.

“The charge woman physically assaulted us by throwing with nearby things in addition of verbally abused them since the working hour starts,” the worker explained.

“Workers are called overtime from 8:00 pm and 11:00 pm and called overtime after 11:00 too. The workers have to go back with their plans as the factory does not provide transportation. All workers here are being abused. Overtimes are called without our consents and they even recircuited on Sundays sometimes. Although we are working due to our livelihoods, there is no worker who is not frustrate and afraid in every morning to go to work due to the excessive verbally abuse. The interpreter is also taking our photos to report to the officials,” said the worker.

The workers also said that the interpreter is taking their photos to report them to the officials.

The Mountain Tree factory is manufacturing Japanese fabrics and it is operated on foreign investments according to the data from DICA.
