Myanmar Bestfortune Garment factory officials had fired more than 50 factory labours accusing of posting online about illegal so that the negotiations are held currently.

According to a social media post about labours being forced to work all light and all night at that garment factory in Shwe Pyi Thar Township, 52 labours were fired without valid reasons, alleging that the labours working in the factory had reported the matter.

In recent months, factory officials have been calling all light, all night overtime without considering the labours’ condense. And they found out in the social media that the labours were unsatisfied about that.

On October 4, HR manager Daw Thander Oo, the employer’s interpreter Ma Than Than together with the WCC members, called the 26 labours of machine line No. 10 and told them that they would stop be laid off with a one month notice wages due to lack of orders.

As there are day laborers in the factory, the they did not accept the dismissal also because of only those 26 from line 10 would be dismissed out of the 3 lines that manufactures only orders. Therefore, they request the WCC team to resolve but instead WCC just confirmed the dismissal without any negotiations.

The labours vision is that the dismissal is caused by the employer’s opinion of the labours posted online and there are labour leaders from some organizations include among them.

As negotiations were not resolved, they were allowed to continue working, but since October 5, line 10 labours will no longer be sewing clothes.

On October 9th, the employer's representative, Daw Thandar Oo, called 52 labours from Line 10 to move to other departments. And said that if they could not move, they would lay off 15 workers with more than 1 year of experience and those with less than 1 year of experience by paying the damages according to the EC contract together with a notice fee.

Currently, the labours said that they won’t accept the factory's statements and will continue to negotiate.
