More than 200 labours are waiting outside the Wellgreen outdoor (Myanmar) as the factory is preparing to close without paying wages.

The labours worked at Wellgreen outdoor (Myanmar) until the August 31 and the factory gave off days between September 1 and 5. But the labours have to wait outside of the factory for now as the employer is moving out the stuffs. The factory located in Mya Thara Phi Street, Mya Sein Yaung Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar.

The factory which operates with over 200 labour force is only 5 months old. The factory told the labours to come take the salary of August on the 5th September. But on today, September 2, as the Myanmar national who is the wife of the factory owner Chinese national is witnessed for moving the stuffs. When the labours asked about this, she said that the factory is going to closed and the it is not seemed that the salaries could be paid.

The working hours are from 8:00 am to 22:00 or 00:00 pm with the reasons of fabric importance and they are currently moving the stuffs without informing the labours while they considered as off days.

“We worked until August 31. Sometime all night. They said September 1 to 5 are off days. But the labours came to check the factory as the neighbors said it is something strange. They closed the gate and stopped moving as the labours wait outside the factory. The woman said that they would not be able to pay the wages on September 5 as they don’t have orders,” said a labour.

The workers are now watching to prevent the extraction of materials from factory, and if the factory is closed, they want to get paid (8) months' wages act in accordance with the law.

 "The employer doesn't pay wages and neither the severance pay, they are now carrying out factory materials," the labour said.The labours are said to have grievances based on their seniority as Wellgreen outdoor (Myanmar) garment factory is stopping and reoperating for 5 months and it is the third time for now.
