The Union Minister U Myint Naung of the Minister of Labour said that they had formed a monitoring team to resolve the labor right abuses expressed in domestic and foreign labour news outlets. He said this on February 22, when the officials of the UMFCCI and the charges of the industrial zone committees.

The media are writing labor right abuse news as the workers are abused after the coup and it becomes a gate of bribery for the officials instead of inspecting the workplaces that are reported, said by a labor journalist.

“We posted news about the workers’ damages and some factories got resolvent and some factories weren’t inspected at all. Some were inspected but nothing changed. They inspected in seek of bribery,’ said a labor news reporter.

The ministry refused continuously for 3 years in the SAC’s media but the labor right abuses are raising year by year according to the Myanmar Labour News’ annual summary data.

The workers have to work overtime without their consents, not entitled to legal leaves, cut their benefits, and force labor are also being witnessed. “There were trade unions before and we were dare to report any illegal things but we expect nothing for now. The factory would even know who reported them to the ministry. They discriminated those who reported and moved them to other departments and the worst is those workers had to resign finally,” said a garment worker.

It is like a situation that the news of labor right abuses are exposed to the public only if the news outlets expressed them due to the arrested and oppression of the Junta upon the Unions, Federations and their leaders and members.

“We told them how to write report if the workers don’t know back in those days. We educate them about their rights but we can’t live in Myanmar anymore for now. The workers have more fear than before too. The local and international community would only know the labor right abuses only if the news outlets are keep updating,” said a labor activist.

It is also known that the ministry of labor uploaded their actions upon the factories and workshop which violate the labor laws after field inspection.
